Ten years of tracking every dollar
Emmett Money didn't start as an idea to build another budgeting app. It started because I needed a better way to understand my family's financial future.
For more than a decade I tracked every income, expense, credit card purchase, bill, bank transaction, transfer and investment — importing bank statements every month, reconciling every transaction, and planning months ahead. The budgeting wasn't the valuable part. The valuable part was being able to answer one question: where will my money be three or six months from now?
The software I depended on eventually became an expensive business accounting platform — built for companies, not families. I wasn't looking for enterprise accounting software. I wanted the personal finance planner that had guided my family for ten years. So I built it.
Not "where did it go" — "where will it be"
Most finance apps answer where your money went. Emmett Money answers where it's going, and where it will be months from now.
Import & sync
OFX, QFX, CSV and PDF imports, optional Plaid bank connections, and cloud sync so your workspace follows you across devices.
Plan ahead
Budget planner with pace markers, a 12-month cash-flow forecast, debt payoff planning, and a calendar of what's coming due.
Ask your numbers
A floating AI assistant reads across your tabs and answers in plain language — for convenience, not financial advice.
Principles that shape the product
Fast & lightweight
No bloat, no slow dashboards. It should feel as quick as a spreadsheet, because it basically is one.
Private by default
Your money is your business. Sync with strict per-user isolation. Export and delete anytime.
Honest & simple
Clear pricing, no dark patterns, no selling your data. Cancel whenever you like.
Why I built this
For more than ten years, I've tracked every dollar my family has earned and spent. What started as a simple habit became one of the most valuable tools in our lives — the confidence to make better decisions, avoid surprises, and understand exactly where our money was going months before it happened.
What I wanted no longer existed: a modern, powerful tool built specifically for individuals and families, not corporations. So I decided to build it.
Emmett Money isn't about budgeting for the sake of budgeting. It's about giving people clarity, confidence and control over their financial future. My goal isn't to replace your bank — it's to help you understand it better.
